And writing, more than any other art, is indexed to the worthiness of the self because it is identified in people’s minds with emotion. When a child writes a story she experiences her personal world as something socially valuable: her egotism, if you will, is configured as a force for good; by writing she makes herself important, she asserts her equality with – and...

Recipe: Pulla
Pulla is a very traditional Finnish dessert and by far my favorite pastry. This recipe is from The Fresh Loaf but I edited it a little and added my own notes. You can always go crazy and add stuff if you so wish. For example, many people add cinnamon so the pulla resembles regular cinnamon rolls.
INGREDIENTS 4 tsp. active dry yeast 2 ½ cups milk, heated to lukewarm 1 egg, beaten 1 tbsp....

HOLY HELL, LAURA.
Get to the states, quick!!!
Trying to all the time! This is my last winter, luckily. I’m too young to dieee~
You can’t die until I get you an actual hug. IRL. No more of this internet shit.

Anonymous asked: Why are all your images so low resolution? They look tiny on my huge monitors. They are very pretty but I cannot see them and this makes me sad :-(

I had really strange dreams
Dream 1 I looked to my garden and I saw this man trying to chase off these big cats (I mean sabre-toothed cat big) and I noticed one of them was a lion. Suddenly the lion turned around and the man left running and the lion looked at me. I ran to the kitchen to look into the front yard and saw these big black cats walking down the street.
I couldn’t find my boyfriend anywhere so I tried...

Language barriers
I have my own distinctive style of writing in my native language. As a kid I used to make up words and twist the language and I never got rid of it. I still speak my language in a very unique way. I mix slang and different dialects and some words I made up myself.
I find my English to be too plain for my taste. I don’t know the language well enough to twist it and create my own way of...

What is it?
It is an irritating, electronic noise, not unlike the sound of a truck horn played through a cheese grater. It is broadcast over a certain frequency, constantly, and has been since at least 1982. But the weird part isn’t the tone, but what happens when it stops.
In its 20-something year run, the sound has been interrupted only three times, the earliest known time being...
8 Tees to Support Disaster Relief in Haiti
jorgeq:
Days after the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti, news coverage continues to poor in showing how conditions in the country are growing more desperate by the day and it’s been amazing seeing the contribution that social media has played in elevating the awareness.
There’s also the fashionista route that you can take by shopping for tees created specifically for the relief effort...

Umbrella Weather
by Rachel Wetzsteon.
To be drawn out of doors by the first sign of rain on the window, to be happier drenched than dry, to go out in weather that others come in from, warrants a stare from passing faces, and i know what it means: there goes someone with serious problems. Problems I have, and a nasty stammer to prove it. But when I run into streets that are shiny, my love of the downpour...

Next Life
by Woody Allen.
In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people’s home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day.
You work for 40 years until you’re young enough to enjoy...
Guilty pleasure
I worked out extra hard and longer than usual today, ‘cos I made a big bowl of strawberry-cream-quark and I want to eat it without guilt haha. Quark itself doesn’t have many calories in it but oh my god one little package of cream is like 360kcal! And I used two of them. Oops. Oh well! I need to gain a little anyway.
It’s delicious, by the way.

!!!
I finally got a new laptop! This means I can watch videos, listen to music, upload photos and not crash 50 times a day. I installed Ubuntu on this one, I’ve just had it with Windows. Loving it so far!
Eek
I’ve always eaten too little and now that I’m working out I have to start counting calories. I have to get at least 1960 calories per day. So far I’ve eaten a lot more than I usually do and I’m only at 1150 calories, and the day is almost over. 1960kcal is a huge amount of food!
Oh, and I think the theme is back to normal, more or less. This time I created a back up, haha.
Hey everyone
I accidentally deleted my Tumblr theme, so I’m re-creating it now. Things can look a little wonky for the time being..
Edit: I think I got most of it right. I still have to re-do the search form and some other little things, but mainly the layout is back how it used to be. Only took me till 3:34am. Hooray.

Shopping!
I’ve been trying to find a comfortable, supporting and high quality sports bra for a while now and today I found one by Shock Absorber. It fits perfectly. I am guilty of buying clothes when I didn’t really need to, too. I bought a light blue nightgown and a baggy purple shirt. They were cheap though, so it’s okay.
I changed my Tumblr name
I didn’t like having the nick nnisha with the double-n, so I changed my Tumblr name to Nishanity (Nisha and insanity combined).. I’m not a big fan of the person who registered nisha and hasn’t updated in well over a year. Boo hiss at her.

For crying out loud
The people who handle the luggage in our international airport are idiots. I get it, you don’t like the fact your employer changed. You already marched out, protested and created a chaos at the airport because the luggage didn’t move anywhere. You made your point, stop being babies and do your jobs! I mean, come on, deliberately sending luggage to the wrong planes? Not handling some...
Photographer Sayings & Their Translations →
The crew at SLR Lounge has posted a few humorous photographer sayings that we’ve all heard before along with a straightforward translation for each. Here’s some of my favorite ones:
“I exclusively shoot on prime lenses” Translation: “I shoot around 10,000 shots to make sure I get something sharp, which I can’t guarantee by the way.
“I am a professional photographer” Translation: “I got my...
Aww
Eversince it got super cold and snowy, all the mice are now inside. No, they’re not actually inside the house, but there are gaps and this very low attic where nobody ever goes to. I can hear them running around and sometimes I see them run across the yard. I believe they’re Yellow-necked mice. Such cuties! I’m going to miss living in the forest.
